On June 21 in Hemming Plaza, United Way of Northeast Florida announced results of its mobilization effort to recruit new volunteer mentors for Northeast Florida’s struggling students. As part of a national initiative, the local organization joined hundreds of United Ways across the country in hosting a Day of Action on this one day.
On Saturday, June 21, United Ways across the nation will host a Day of Action highlighting the importance of volunteering and demonstrating the power of communities working together to advance the common good in the areas of education, income and health.
United Way of Northeast Florida recognized leadership givers on Thursday, May 1 at the Casa Marina Hotel in Jacksonville Beach. More than 250 leadership givers were in attendance at United Way’s annual Celebrate Leadership event.
"I have been humbled by the passion and commitment of people from all walks of life to the mission of United Way," said Ron Autrey, Campaign Chair and President and Chief Operating Officer, Miller Electric Company, as he announced the $26,152,688 total raised for the 2007 Campaign, a 4.6% increase over the 2006 campaign. 
United Way of Northeast Florida kicked off the 2007 community campaign today at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. With more than 700 guests in attendance 2007 Campaign Chair Ron Autrey, president of Miller Electric, announced the campaign goal of $26,102,672 that will allow United Way to increase its impact in improving lives of First Coast children and families.
